Koch companies in Texas that have earned STAR status in OSHA's Voluntary Protection Programs include Flint Hills Resources, Georgia-Pacific, INVISTA, Koch Carbon, Koch-Glitsch, Koch Specialty Plant Services, Koch Pipeline Company and Optimized Process Designs.

  • In total, Koch companies have nearly 100 sites that have earned STAR certification in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs. VPP sites include:
    • The C. Reiss Coal Company – Green Bay, Wis.
    • Flint Hills Resources – Texas fuels terminals in Austin, San Antonio, Waco and Fort Worth. First in their industry.
    • Flint Hills Resources - Wisconsin fuels terminals in Madison, Milwaukee and Waupun.
    • Georgia-Pacific – Antioch, Calif.; Beaver Creek, Mich.; Columbia, Miss.; La Mirada, Calif.; Leominster, Mass.; West Chester, Ohio; NWSC Front Ave., Ore.; NWSC Kelly Point, Ore.; NWSC Rivergate, Ore.; Skippers, Va.
    • John Zink Co. - Tulsa, Okla.
    • Koch Carbon, LLC – Pittsburg and Long Beach, Calif.
    • Koch-Glitsch, LP – Dallas and Houston, Texas; and Wichita, Kan.
    • Koch Pipeline Company, L.P. – Southern Operations Group, Corpus Christi, Texas
    • Koch Specialty Plant Services – Houston, Texas. First under the mobile workforce contractor program.

  • Koch Pipeline Company has been named one of the Safest Companies in America by EHS Today magazine. The company’s focus on safety has earned many awards including the Occupational Excellence Achievement Award from the National Safety Council, and the Occupational Safety Award from the American Petroleum Institute, its highest honor.
  • INVISTA, Koch Sulfur Products Compay and Koch Nitrogen Compay have earned safe shipping awards from Norfolk Southern Corporation and Union Pacific Corporation. The awards are presented to companies that ship hazardous chemicals without incident.
  • Flint Hills Resources fuels terminals in seven states earned the Platinum Safety Award from the International Liquid Terminals Association, its highest award for safety. The company's safety performance and leadership was recognized with the Award of Honor, part of the Governor’s Safety Awards presented by the Minnesota Safety Council.
  • Koch Specialty Plant Services in Houston received the Silver award for safety from the Houston Business Roundtable and the Safety Excellence award for contractors from Exxon Mobil.
  • Flint Hills Resources and INVISTA have earned numerous safety awards from the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association for their continued safety performance.
